Memory for the source of solutions in remote associate tasks: The role of generation effect and the Aha!-experience

The aim of the current work is to study role Aha!-experience in remembering source solutions, either self-generated or externally presented. In memory studies there are specific source-monitoring errors, which occur whenever a participant claims have generated an idea that was derived from different sources (unconscious plagiarism). Several previous shown experiencing feeling Aha! during problem-solving presentation correct solutions can beneficial relationship subsequent recall material with processing it associated. However, on monitoring task (self-generated vs presented solutions) not been conducted. authors’ study, hypothesis Aha!, associated being solved, affect accuracy. During first stage experiment, participants (80 people) had solve Compound Remote Associates Task items and estimate whether they when generating solution case failed generate it. At second stage, conducted week later, if by themselves just results confirm generation effect, manifests itself successfully recalling problems for found (sufficient generation) compared no-solutions (fail-to-generate).
